image This program is located in Shandong Province and volunteers can teach conversational english at a primary, secondary and university level. Education is regarded extremely important in China, so children are sent from the local villages into the cities to be schooled. The schools are well resourced and volunteers are sought in order to help with conversational English. It is the wish of the Chinese nation to become bilingual.

The hours worked vary from school to school, but generally volunteers usually teach between 14 hours and 20 hours per week. The teaching timetable is discussed personally with the school principal, and can be tailored to the preference of each volunteer. There may be some evening and weekend classes in the program. During the weekends the schools usually organize outings. The type of teaching volunteers are expected to do will consist of helping the students practise comprehension and pronunciation.
